what are your opinions on lady gaga?
@Anonymous(cue wall of text. Scroll to the bottom if you don’t feel like reading. Oh, and also, sorry if this sounds sort of like an incoherent run-on sentence)
Well, when she was just becoming popular enough for people who live under rocks like me to hear about her, she initially was just sort of there. I didn’t have much of an opinion, I don’t think.
It wasn’t until I saw the video for Telephone that I thought she was awesome (that video gave Beyoncé a one-up in my book, too!) and I’m not totally sure why it was so likable to me— I haven’t really liked any of her other videos as much since.
One of my favorite artists and someone I look up to, Yamino, seemed to like her, so that probably started swaying me too to become a little monster.

And once I started learning about Gaga’s messages, i.e., gay rights stuff etc., I decided she was pretty cool! And her gender-bending Jo Calderone was fairly interesting; it’s fun to see famous people create a splash like Gaga does, in my opinion. So naturally I’ve also liked most of her outlandish outfits (some not so much… the meatdress? ew. sorry)
I mean there are definitely times where I’ve been a bit reluctant to say that I’m a fan. I didn’t appreciate the “chola” and “orient” slurs in Born This Way and her fanbase can be a bit of a pain too, so I’ve heard. I’m sure you could find other reasons I’ve been upset by her that I don’t feel like remembering right now, but I mostly think she’s pretty great!
In short, I suppose any opinion of a music star should boil down to their music, and I’ve always liked it! :D
